The Grampians Grape Escape today announced that Australian music icon, Kate Ceberano will headline a stellar entertainment line-up at the 25th edition of the food and wine festival taking place on Saturday 30 April and Sunday 1 May in Halls Gap.
The award winning musical superstar and Australia’s high priestess of pop is looking forward to performing live at the festival on Sunday.
“I feel as though I’ve been to the Grampians before but it was a long time ago, when I was a young gal traveling through regional Victoria with my first band!
“I love Victoria, its national parks and regional touring. I feel like it’s an escape and any excuse to bring my music to the outer circles of my birth state is a pleasure and privilege,” said Ms Ceberano.
Festival Director, David Wheaton is excited about the 2016 line-up.
“We are thrilled to have Kate Ceberano heading our best Grampians Grape Escape line-up yet, the festival is going from strength to strength, each year building on the year before and our 25th birthday will be a celebration not to miss,” Mr Wheaton said.
Saturday’s entertainment kicks off with acoustic beats from Luke Bourchier and Garrett Kato as well as Tree of Strings and Amy Pollock (who are also playing on Sunday), before ramping up with returning festival favourites, foot stomping Hamilton boys, The Settlement and ARIA award winner, Monique Brumby and her band, The Riders who will perform a rollicking set of classic blues/rock tunes.
In addition to Ms Ceberano on Sunday, the celebrated Mutti Mutti man, Kutcha Edwards will bring his soulful blues arrangements to Grampians Grape Escape for the first time and festival goers will love the percussive easy listening tunes of Ararat local, Riley Mason.
For families and foodies, the quirky ‘edible adventurer’ Alice in Frames will entertain across the whole weekend through fun and lively cooking demonstrations, tale telling and sharing her passion for healthy meal creations that will cultivate curiosity and inspire kids.
The month-long Grampians Grape Escape runs during April and culminates with the ultimate indulgence weekend on Saturday 30 April and Sunday 1 May with more than 100 provedores and local producers, as well as beer, wine and cider artisans sampling their goods offering something to suit every age and palate.
Headline chef, Miguel Maestre will entertain by cooking up a storm using fresh local ingredients over both days while local chefs hold master classes showcasing their talents and produce and local vintners share their knowledge of wine appreciation.
Little foodies can meet the residents of Halls Gap Zoo plus hang out, play and dance in the belly of Nylon Zoo’s magical giant salmon. They will love clown Professor Prefosser’s all-day kids’ activities including face painting, magic sand, play dough and sing-alongs, while everyone can try their feet at traditional grape stomping.
Wine lovers can bid on the best shiraz from the Grampians region at the fiercely contested Barrique Auction, the only opportunity to purchase a renowned blend that represents the annual vintage.
Tickets start at just $5.00 for a child’s day pass up to $199 for an indulgent VIP Weekend Package offering festival entry, free wine tasting on both days and entry to the Royal Mail Hotel VIP Lounge situated in the heart of the Festival Village.
A number of additional events are held during the month of April as part of the festival, providing a variety of experiences to suit all tastes, showcasing the magnificent Grampians region.
