Seven little nuggets you need to know about BENDIGO BRITTLE:
Bendigo Brittle started in 2016 as a side hustle to founder Greta Donaldson’s PR business. She started making and selling brittle as a way of spending time with her sister and niece who were making and selling candles at local markets in and around Bendigo.
Greta attended her first market in Bendigo, in 2017 and SOLD OUT within hours. She also picked up five local stockists; the Bendigo Visitors Centre, Bendigo Pottery, Bendigo Tramways, Central Deborah Mine and Percy and Percy Cafe.
Since that day, Greta has not looked back, 2 years on she quit her PR job (incidentally her family and friends all thought she had gone NUTS) and started making brittle full-time… which was a big joke in her family because she’s the sort of person that burns toast… but as she says she does come from a family of women who were all great cooks. Now her mum, sister and niece all work in the business.
Greta and her team attend market with their uber cool confectionery cart, locally as well as all over Australia, including Melbourne, Canberra and Adelaide.
In addition to the markets Bendigo Brittle has stockists from Birdsville to Brunswick, Bookham to Bacchus Marsh, Ballarat to Barwon Heads and now the ICONIC VICTORIA store at Melbourne Airport’s Qantas Terminal – so the sky’s the limit.
Bendigo Brittle is handmade by a team of women aged 18-83. Their brittle is brittle-brittle – it won’t break your teeth. They use quality ingredients; it contains no preservatives and is gluten free.
The range includes their best-selling-original peanut brittle, as well as macadamia, pistachio, almond, cashew and in January they launched their SWEET-TREAT-WITH-HEAT chilli peanut brittle in a MILD and HOT, and it is going gangbusters. They have no duds – all of their brittles are delicious.
